iran joins eco Transportation Agreement |
TEHRAN – Government on Monday forwarded to the Ministry of Roads and Transportation the act on Iran’s joining the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Transportation Agreement. The comprehensive agreement is comprised of an introduction section and 45 annexes and encompasses all the issues related to road, railroad and sea transportation as well as the pertaining customs, judicial, and insurance affairs. Enforcement of the terms of the agreement has been mandatory for the member countries as of May 19, 2006, however, the law was approved by Iranian parliament (Majlis) on August 13, 2006, the Persian service of Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA) reported here on Monday. The agreement envisions the laws and regulations to facilitate transportation of goods and help remove the obstacles to the international passenger and cargo transportations among the member countries.
