Painting exhibition begins tomorrow
MUSCAT — An exhibition of oil paintings, The Reflections, by Dr Madhu K. Rajan, cardiac surgeon at the Royal Hospital, will open here tomorrow at the Omani Society of Fine Arts. The exhibition will be open between 10am and 8pm and will wind up on October 26.

About 75 per cent of the exhibition proceeds will be donated to the Omani Charitable Society.

The Royal Hospital in association with the Omani Society of Fine Arts is organising the exhibition. It is being held under the patronage of His Highness Said Shihab bin Tariq Al Said, adviser to His Majesty the Sultan. The exhibition is being conducted as part of the 20th anniversary celebrations of the Royal Hospital.

Speaking about the exhibition, Dr Ghazi bin Omar Al Zubaidi, director-general of Royal Hospital and senior consultant gastroenterologist said: “To mark 20 years of functioning of the Royal Hospital, we are proud to be conducting this exhibition of oil paintings of Dr Madhu Rajan, department of cardiac surgery, in association with the Omani Fine Arts Society as part of our anniversary celebrations. While being proficient as a surgeon, Dr Madhu is a talented painter and we wish him all the best on this occasion.”

This is Dr Madhu’s 25th solo exhibition. His unique style in composition is the result of intense experimentation in an attempt to make the paintings simpler to understand. His paintings are in the private collections of many around the globe and leaves art-lovers with a satisfaction of having seen beyond a part of real life in a smaller frame.
