Cologne, Germany - Professional attendance at the world's main food-industry trade fair, Anuga in Cologne, rose 3 per cent to 163,000, organizers said Wednesday as the five-day event closed.
The purchasing executives and other trade visitors hailed from 175 nations. The fair, held every two years, is a showcase for 6,600 food and beverage manufacturers and traders from round the globe.
The fair has expanded since two years ago, filling new pavilions at the Cologne trade-show grounds.
Thailand was partner nation this year, showing off its cuisine and seafood and fruit exports. In October 2009, Turkish food exports will be in focus at the fair.
